Take the White Ribbon NI Pledge

Make a commitment. Create lasting change.

Violence against women and girls is not something that happens somewhere else, to someone else. Every organisation has a role to play in creating a culture where violence, harassment and harmful attitudes are challenged rather than ignored.

Never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls.

The White Ribbon NI Pledge gives all organisations an opportunity to make that commitment publicly.

It is a commitment to action.

Why should your organisation take the pledge?

Culture starts with what we tolerate.

Every organisation has the power to influence attitudes and behaviours. By taking a clear position against violence against women and girls, organisaions can help challenge the beliefs, behaviours and social norms that allow violence and inequality to continue.

Leadership matters.

When senior leaders take a visible stand, it sends a clear message to staff, customers, partners, volunteers and the wider community: violence against women and girls is unacceptable, and staying silent is not an option.

Your people are part of the solution.

Your organisation reaches people every day through your workforce, customers, suppliers, partners, and the communities in which you operate. That influence can be used to create positive change far beyond the workplace.

What does taking the pledge mean in practice?

Taking the pledge is the beginning of your journey, not the end.

We can support your organisation to:

LISTEN

Identify and acknowledge the issue, delve into Northern Ireland's statistics around violence against women, and give space for empathy building.

LEARN

Explore root causes and societal factors perpetuating violence against women and girls.

LEAD

Equip people in your organisation with practical tools, including bystander intervention techniques, to effect change in their everyday lives.

Your organisation can then build these principles into its training, policies, communications, organisation culture, and community engagement.

White Ribbon NI’s voice is strengthened every time an organisation chooses to make that commitment, and every organisation that takes the pledge has the opportunity to turn that commitment into action.

Make the pledge. Start the conversation. Lead the change.
